Ovalbumin (Chicken egg white albumin or OVA) is a phosphorylated-glycoprotein and can be used as a carrier protein to conjugate to synthetic peptides for use as an immunogen. It has 385 amino acids and it's relative molecular mass is 45kDa. Ovalbumin has the following amino acids which make it suitable for conjugation: Lys, Tyr, Cys, Asp and Glu. Ovalbumin can be used tom immunize animals to elicit antibodies to small molecules (haptens) by covalent conjugation.
