The Kleargene™ XL nucleic acid extraction kits are suited to DNA extractions designed with large-volume extraction in mind, being optimised to handle multi-millilitre samples up to 10 mL, typical of the sizes of collection tubes used in phlebotomy. The Kleargene XL kit has been designed to faciliate simple, rapid extraction and purification of genomic DNA of a high quality and quantity from a variety of different sources including:
High volume blood samples (up to 10 mL)
Samples stored in 4 mL EDTA-coated vacuette
Saliva samples
Tissue samples
Oragene collection tubes.
The Kleargene XL method is based on the highly proven technology of detergent-driven cell lysis followed by guanidinium isothiocyanate-mediated DNA binding to silica particles. Contaminants are removed by washing and DNA is subsequently eluted into a low salt buffer.
The kit is available in different sizes, is scalable and therefore optimised for the extraction of DNA from different amounts of starting material and for different numbers of samples. Typical DNA yields range from 10 µg to 800 µg, depending on starting volume and the nature of the sample material.
